London Pleasure Gardens

Brought to life by the team behind Glastonbury Festival’s Shangri-La and Mutate Britain with support from Newham Council, the LPG will celebrate its opening on 30th June, 2012 with a public two-day Paradise Gardens festival.

The festival will be a veritable smorgasbord of global arts, entertainment and activities. Audiences can expect live music from the likes of Roots Manuva, Alabama 3, Ska Cubano and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble plus a spectacular pyrotechnic theatre from renowned performers The World Famous. There will also be off the wall street arts, a village fete, a swing dance ballroom, a vintage funfair, the best in London’s street food, plus a craft market.

The LPG is inspired by the Pleasure Gardens that existed between the 17th and 19th centuries, where people from all walks of life converged to immerse themselves in the culture that makes London great. London Pleasure Gardens brings this sense of community and cultural marvel back to the city with groundbreaking architectural structures and events.

Camden Crawl: The Wrigley’s 5 ‘The Nightjar’ hits Camden Crawl this year

Ever wondered what it would be like to be stranded in total darkness and relying solely on the sounds around you to get out alive? Well, this is exactly the challenge that Wrigley’s 5 will be setting over May Bank Holiday weekend.
Crawling, feeling and listening your way through a dying spacecraft, this will be the real-life version of the newly launched App from Wrigley’s 5, The Nightjar, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch.
Bringing to life a true sensory experience, guests of Camden Crawl will be asked to enter the Nightjar and make their way through the pitch black maze with a few surprises on the way.
So, if you are feeling brave enough then make sure you join us at The Roundhouse, but be warned as you may not be the only one in there. Scared yet?

Looks so much fun doesn't it? We cannot wait to experience it. Let us know if you'll be there as we will experiencing this and would love to experience it with you...fear not though Deer Brainers we will be doing a post night fright review! x

ACOFI Book Launch – Friday 28/1/2010

Of all the places to hold a book launch, the steel gated basement of a fashion store seems like an obscure choice, but this wasn’t just any book, nor was it any ordinary store.

Known for its arts and fashion coverage, as well as excellent design, Amelia’s Magazine became a must have for the visually minded. Since moving from print to online in 2009 the magazine carries on providing great content, albeit without that special, tangible quality.

Fortunately for those with a love for print, the magazine’s creator Amelia Gregory recently released her second book, ‘Amelia’s Compendium of Fashion Illustration’.
Providing a mixture of the best fashion illustrations from Amelia’s Magazine and the work of up and coming ethical fashion illustrators such as June Chanpoomidole, Amy Martino and Erica Sharp, the book showcases a vast range of creative talent. It also features exclusive interviews with the illustrators involved, and various ethical designers including Tara Starlet, Fifi Bijoux and Hetty Rose.  The venue, 123 boasts the same credentials, providing ethical, sustainable fashion from their Brick Lane store.

After making my way down the narrow staircase and into the concert space it was clear that the party was already in full swing with folk-pop sensations 6 Day Riot providing the music and a free bar constantly dispensing drinks including Adnams’ carbon neutral East Green ale and Australia’s organic Vodka O.

As the drinks kept flowing the band left the stage and DJ pair The Pipettes took to the decks providing a mix of danceable classics and current favourites to keep the guests, and the bar staff on the dancefloor, before guest DJ and Mystery Jets member William Rees made sure the party kept going.

Meanwhile the lower basement, where copies of the book were being sold, established itself as the area to relax in, providing a great opportunity for illustrators and bloggers to network.

With morning approaching and livers straining under the influence of free alcohol the night wound to a close, with Amelia cementing herself not only as the queen of independent fashion, but also as the host of the best Friday night in Shoreditch for quite some time.

MODEFABRIEK

The lovely PR people at Modefabriek and Press Only have filled us in about a great event we wish we could attend. From January 23rd to 24th the Amsterdam RAI will play host to inspiring designers from all over Europe showcasing both ready-to-wear and avant-garde lines.

Modefabriek is a wider trade show that provides a platform for over 600 labels and lines. On top of this, a select group get to show their lines as part of the NEXT and CUTTING EDGE catwalk platforms. It's great to see a showcase putting itself out there and introducing the industry and media to new talent. Peep their site here to find out more.

So, anyone feel like buying us a flight or train over? Just saying.
