Bestival 2011

Bestival has always been known for being incredibly diverse in its line mixing up big dance acts and dj's, alternative artists, chart toppers, the unusual, the un-heard of and cult icons. This is what has separated Bestival from other festivals in the past, this years line up didn't disappoint with headline acts from The Cure and Bjork accompanied with the likes of the Maccabees, Joy Orbison, Public Enemy and not forgetting Mr Motivator! Based at the Robin Hill country park on the Isle of Wight there is plenty of open space and various things to do besides seeing artists perform, some of the side shows were so good. The Lords of Lightning were mind blowing especially after a day of music and other festival activities!

All in all we had a sick time at Bestival, the Cure and Bjork were unreal and the fire works to close it were the best and longest we have ever seen. The weather was shocking with peoples tents getting flooded on saturday and then being blown away on sunday night but this didn't dampen the weekend. Roll on Bestival 2012!!

Bestival 2011

The mother of all fancy dress festivals is coming just around the corner again, and we at Deer Brains are pretty damn excited about it. Managing to combine the island setting at the Isle of Wight with a ridiculously strong line-up headlined by Bjork, The Cure and Pendulum, Bestival's organisers have pulled out all the stops once again.

This year there are 18 stages and tents all over the site, and it looks pretty much guaranteed to satisfy anyone's festival tastes. Burlesque and performance lover? Then the Time For Tease tent looks like it's the one for you. Bit of a raver? The Bollywood Tent will be (unexpectedly, given its name) serving up some of the best DJ sets from the likes of Doorly, Pete Tong & Tensnake. And if you're just an old-fashioned 'I'm here for the music' festival-goer then acts like Yuck, Brian Wilson, The Correspondents and James Blake should be enough to satisfy your thirst for great tunes.

The festival's still got tickets going at the moment, but looks likely to sell out soon. Hop to it now, by clicking here. We also hear there's a planned charity drive to swim to the isle - could be a pretty incredible way to get there, no? If you'd rather go for the more conventional route, there's info on car-shares and ferry journeys here.
