Blitz London Vintage

Blitz is a barely month-old vintage superstore that's just opened up off Brick Lane. When we got an invite to their press and media launch last night, we couldn't wait to see what gems their team had been picking out and filling the store with over the last few months. Needless to say, we were blown away by the quality and general gorgeous-ness of their stock. Pat on the back, Team Blitz!

Spread over two huge floors, the shop boasts a library (stocked with beautiful books on food, fashion & art), vinyl collection, vintage furniture emporium and more chunky jumpers, sequined dresses and leather boots than you could shake a stick at. We particularly loved the collection of gleaming brooches and onyx costume jewellery, as well as the saucy vintage lingerie. Downstairs boys can get their hands on varsity lettered jackets, blazers, satchels and even the odd fixie.

We spoke to Blitz's resident blogger (below, right) about the launch, and found out they put just as much work in as you'd think; individually steaming each piece and polishing every shoe is what we'd call commitment. The hard work shows, with guests on the night milling about happily to the sounds of 1920s jazz and more than a handful of journo types walking away with new purchases. In fact, we're thinking it's about time we headed back to get a lovely leather case we had our eyes on last night...

Find Blitz at 55 - 59 Hanbury Street, E1 5JP, off Brick Lane. They're open from 11am - 7pm every day besides Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays when their doors don't shut til 8pm. Keep up with their news on their blog, Facebook and Twitter pages. Thanks to the Blitz team for having us and holding such a successful night.

BRAND NEW: Tarquin and Petunia

This webstore literally only went live about a few minutes ago. It is an online fashion store created by a South London couple. It features some knock out one off pieces for both sexes.

They've taken inspiration from the 80's to avoid the droid-like rails and repetitive high street robots that have swept the country. T&P items are all handpicked with love and promise to deliver precious vintage goods at extremley reasonable prices.

This morning I was thinking about investing in some new sweats...then I saw this.

Alpinestars 'grease monkey' SS'11 collection.

With over 40 years of industry excellence, Alpinestars knows a thing or two about motorsports and this season sees the brand's fashion label go back to the mechanics shop with their range of stylishly worn and oil slicked pieces alongside classic streetwear basics.

Collection highlights include wardrobe staples like the worn-in ‘Deep Six Crew’ Sweater with it's vintage engine print and subtle grease worked edges available in steal blue or rust and the ‘Remixx Shirt’ which offers a new season shift on everyone's favourite plaid, with an all over oil stain effect across 4 colours. The brand stays true to it's roots with the Alpinestars Vintage label featuring across chino smart walkshorts and key accessories pieces like the ‘Supply Trucker Cap’, with plenty of subtle detailing throughout the line including worn steel buttons and chevron striped linings.

Fila Vintage Track

Our pals over at Canoe sent over these rad vintage Fila tops, which have reminded me of my school days when all the cool hot boys in my year would be rocking them.

It is Fila's AW10 Vintage collection. The Settanta Mk 1 is an actual re-issue of Bjorn Borg's 1976 collaboration jacket, with the others taking style queues from other original pieces in the Fila archive.
You can buy these Bjorn Borg's 1976 jackets here.
