NOIR Magazine is an online magazine that has a circles around a theme each month the current issue being issue number 5 focuses on 'London Inspired' fashion featuring fashion blogger Susie Bubble, celeb Fearne Cotton and in-depth highlights from London Fashion Week. We feel this will be a regularly read for us and hopefully it will inspire all you fashionistas out there as well.

Love Art Wear Art SS11

As the madness of London Fashion Week draws to a close, we took on an invite to the launch of Nicole le Grange's new footwear label, Love Art Wear Art. We were treated to beautiful shoes swinging in bird cages, free champagne, fairy cakes and a dangerous zone in which to try on and buy shoes direct on the night.

 

 

Named Nika, the debut collection draws on influences from South African-born Nicole's travels, and especially her love of Nigerian Chris Ofili's artwork. She said herself he wanted to design a range that filled that gap between low-quality and ridiculously pricey, sourcing a Spanish family-owned supplier and only using natural materials of the highest quality.

It shows. These shoes are delicious. Plus, there are only fifty of each style being made, and each pair is numbered. And in case you were wondering, Nicole (below) had been on her feet in them for five hours when we met, and insisted we quote that they were still going strong.

Jasper Garvida A/W 11

The lovely girls at Push PR got us some guest spots at Jasper Garvida's stunning Autumn/Winter show this past Friday. As was to be expected, Garvida's gown- and dress-heavy collection highlighted notions of femininity but with a refreshing twist.

The collection sported a clear oriental influence, from high mandarin collars to geisha-esque pinned hair. He expressed the theme through a broad palette of smoky dark grey, deep blood red, black and yellow-green tones. We especially loved a red dress he brought down the runway, embellished with protruding plastic layers; a closer look showed they were actually made from sharp pins. Again, he placed the feminine flush next to the aggressive and dangerous:

'You can look, but if you touch you might just get hurt'.

All in all it was a beautiful show. It's great to see a designer who goes with his gut and doesn't compromise to appeal to current micro-trends or fashion fads. Garvida, we salute you.
