VICE.com Issue Launch Party (27.10.11)

If free booze disgusts you, you should probably keep scrolling down to the next post now. If not, then you'll be pretty damn excited to hear about the Vice.com launch parties going down across the country this week. Come down and dance with us at the London event on Thursday night cos it's going to be awesome.

How awesome, we hear you say? Awesome enough that Purity Ring will be giving us their first ever UK live performance. Awesome enough that new indie boys on the scene Theme Park will also be playing. And awesome enough that we'll be there with our big Deer Brains party camera ready to snap away. If you want to be a part of the free drinks festivities, make sure to register on the Vice site, here.

The fun happens at Vice's resident London bar, the Old Blue Last and goes from 8pm to 1am. Thursday's the new Friday, ya heard?

VICE.com Launch Party

We went, we saw and we conquered the open bar. VICE's launch party for vice.com made the area outside Factory 7 on Thursday look like a Zimbabwean petrol queue: filled with pretty, sharply-dressed people, of course. If you were there, we can assume you had as awesome a time as we did to the tunes of Tom Vek, Factory Floor and the DJs' sets.
I asked for funny faces: well done, boys

The combination of free drinks, a Boinc-sponsored photobooth and debauchery starting at about 8:30pm shaped up to a night of mischief and giggles. And one thing we learned from an awesome girl named Dora (shout out!): if you don't ask for the free unlisted champagne, you don't get it. Life lessons, people.

Big thanks to VICE, Kate at VICE for being a total sweetheart and all the organisers of the night. We can safely say it was a success.

VICE.com Slash You

Well, it looks like the whole Christmas-come-early feeling at VICE isn't dying down any time soon. They're asking readers to tell them exactly what you think of the mag and site, in 50 characters or less, then to make one of these pictures about it (d'you like ours?).

We're pretty sure ours breaks one of the sub-clauses about not championing an illegal activity or something, but what's done is done. Let VICE know just what you think about them and their fave entry will win a double-page spread feature in the next issue, a 5-year subscription to the mag and be part of an ad campaign. This is probably more excitement than any URL name change has garnered, ever.

Head to VICE.com/you to add your caption to the mix, then fingers crossed: you could be reading VICE when you're like 27 if you win.

Comp closes on Friday, September 30th

We are also giving one lucky winner a copy - so if you're into fashion and want to see some shocking fashion victims as well as some stylistic fashionistas then all you need to do is tweet out this:

RT and follow @deerbrains and @viceuk for your chance to win this do's & don'ts book http://ow.ly/6ydrp

Competition will close on Monday 26th September 2011.
Good Luck! x

Win VICE.com Launch Party Tickets

Well, congrats are in order to our pals over at VICE: they finally got their domain name back from the creepy porn site that used to own it. Calls for a party, no?

It calls for a mega-party, in fact. Now that VICE have bid a fond farewell to Viceland.com, they're taking over an East London warehouse space for a ridiculous-sounding night next Thursday (September 22nd). The wondrous Tom Vek, Factory Floor and Iceage are already confirmed on the bill, with DJs playing til the lights come up at 1am.

They'll be giving away free tickets to the party here soon, so keep checking back to get the chance to party it up with us. See you then.

Camden Crawl Experience

Well, it was an experience! Sunshine, Gaymers cider, live bands, and a Wrigleys 5 spaceship at the Camden Roundhouse. Obviously! So, after a drink or two I decided to play on the new Wrigleys 5 iPhone/iPod touch app for a minute, and I'm not gonna lie, I didn't fully get the gist of it... Great sound effects though and vocals from Benedict Cumberditch... So after I failed abysmally at the App I decided to try out the real deal.... Dun dun duuuuuun the pitch black dark all horrifying Spaceship, after donning the appropriate safety gear, a helmet, and sexy knee pads, we were ready to go. No waaaaay was I going to go through it alone! So hand in hand my friend and I walked through what I believe were chains, crawled in tunnels, walled into walls and eventually made our way to the end. Did I happen to mention my friend screaming the entire time? No? Well she did. A lot, which just meant I was laughing at her the whole time! We got some fetching piccy's of us in our head gear at the end.... and it was over! A great twist to the Camden Crawl chilled out vibe. The rest of the day was so fun too, will definitely be attending next year!

Thanks to VICE for supplying us with tickets.
